USNO 1425.09823278
     T. Vanmunster, Landen, Belgium, reports that unfiltered CCD
observations during a 7.8-hr run on Sept. 10-11 with a 0.25-m
telescope reveal superhumps in this system (cf. IAUC 6731), with a
mean semiamplitude of 0.05 mag, hence classifying it as an SU UMa-
type dwarf nova. A period analysis using the phase dispersion
minimization method yields a superhump period of 0.0561 +/- 0.0004
day.
Visual magnitude estimate by K. Sarneczky, Raktanya, Hungary:
Sept. 5.852 UT, 13.8.

V518 PERSEI
     A. Guarnieri, C. Bartolini, N. Masetti, and A. Piccioni,
University of Bologna, communicate: "The analysis of one CCD image
of V518 Per obtained with the Bologna University 1.5-m telescope (+
BFOSC) in the Cousins R band on Jan. 16.85 UT, during an x-ray
mini-outburst (IAUC 6605), shows the object at R_c = 20.7 +/- 0.1.
This is at least 0.4 mag brighter than the quiescent R_c value
reported by Chevalier and Ilovaisky (1996, A.Ap. 312, 105) and
indicates that the periodic x-ray activity of the system (IAUC 6738)
is also present in the optical."
