This PSN in NGC 3542 was detected with 180 sec images with 0.43-m f/6.8 astrograph + FLI-PL6303E CCD camera + f/4.5 focal reducer (T21, iTelescope.NET, Mayhill, NM, USA). I compared my images with DSS2 image via Simbad. Photometry results were V = 17.45 and I_c = 17.19. L. Elenin (Lyubertsy, Russia) and I. Molotov (Moscow, Russia) confirm an apparent supernova PSN J11095567+3657025 in NGC 3542. Object visible on 3x300sec images remotely taken at ISON-NM Observatory (Mayhill, NM, USA) with 0.45-m f/2.8 telescope + CCD (KAF09000) on May 17.2272, 2013. Object located at 11h 09m 55s.75 +/- 0".12, +36d 57' 02".0 +/- 0".13 (UCAC-4) with magnitude 17.2U (mag. limit ~19.7m). Nothing is visible at this position on the POSS and POSSII images. This transient was observed by Gianluca Masi and Francesca Nocentini, remotely using the 17" robotic unit part of the Virtual Telescope Project facility in Ceccano, Italy. Unfiltered images show the source at mag. 17.7 (R mags for the reference stars from UCAC-4). We also performed astrometry, getting the following end figures: 55.65s; 02.4" (J2000.0, mean residuals of 0.15" on both axes)

2013 05 17.4539

Astrometry: RA 11 09 55.59 Dec +36 57 02.6 (UCAC3, J2000), Unfiltered CCD mag 17.6 (K. Nishimura, Ebetsu, Hokkaido, Japan; with 0.35-m refl. ST-8XME).
