2014 03 12.993

This transient was observed on 2014 03 12.993 by Gianluca Masi, Francesca Nocentini and Patrick Schmeer, remotely using the 17"-f/6.8 corrected Dall-Kirkham robotic unit part of the Virtual Telescope Project facility, at Bellatrix Astronomical Observatory in Ceccano, Italy. 120-seconds exposures, unfiltered, show the source at mag. 16.3 (R mags for the reference stars from UCAC-4). We also performed astrometry, getting the following end figures: 30.87; 26.3 (J2000.0, mean residuals of 0.2" on both axes).

2014 03 12.0018

Simone Leonini, Siena, Italy, report the discovery by S. Leonini, M. Conti, G. Guerrini, P. Rosi and L.M. Tinjaca Ramirez of an apparent supernova in PGC037426(mag. about +15.38CR +/-0.17 – USNO B1 catalogue) on two unfiltered CCD images (limiting mag. about +18.6) taken on 2014 March 12.00178 UT at the Montarrenti Observatory (IAU code C88)in the course of an automatic survey of the Italian Supernovae Search Project. Telescope/camera: RC 0.53m f/8.7 + U47. Astrometry: R.A. 11h55m30.83s +/-0.22”, Decl.+11degrees55arcmin26.3arcsec. +/-0.15”. No stellar source is visible at the position in our past images including one dated 2014 Mar 03 (limiting mag. about +19.0). No known minor planets are marked in that position for the time of our observation. The image of the apparent supernova is posted at http://www.astrofilisenesi.it/public/Sne/Uploads/PSN_PGC037426.jpg
