Discovered by L. Amaral, C. Jacques, C. Colesanti, E. Pimentel, I. Mussi, J. Ribeiro, M. Domingues, J. Amancio, P. Holvorcem, T. Napoleao on behalf of the Brazilian Transient Search - BraTS - at Observatorio Campo dos Amarais, Bilac, Brazil in three frames with 60 seconds exposure using an 306mm f/2.9 reflector + CCD with magnitude 12.9 under limiting mag = 19.5. Nothing is visible at this location on the previous frame (limiting mag = 19.5) taken on 2020 Mar. 4.85896 UT. Transient at 1.7' from galaxy PGC 502251 and ~14 degrees of Galactic plane. Possible SN or Nova.

A progenitor candidate is GSC2.3 S45E041474 (Bjmag. 21.78) with position end figures 50.00s in RA and 22.1" in DE (J2000.0), which is 1.4" ENE of the reported position of the transient. This candidate is probable identical to the UV source GALEX J115849.6-472321 (fuv_mag. 21.2). The transient is confirmed by recent ASAS-SN Sky Patrol (Shappee et al. 2014ApJ...788...48S and Kochanek et al. 2017PASP..129j4502K) observations: 2020 March 7.144 UT, gmag. fainter than 16.2; 8.258, gmag. 12.8. No previous brightenings were recorded since 2014 May 15; complete light curve and data at https://asas-sn.osu.edu/light_curves/2aa3b838-03f3-4b6c-afd8-f3e284ce11bd --- Patrick Schmeer (Saarbrücken-Bischmisheim, Germany)
