Observation made by P. Miller, P. Roche, A. Tripp, R. Miles, R. Holmes, S. Foglia, L. Buzzi with the 2.0-m f/10 Faulkes Telescope North at Haleakala, in 1.2" seeing. In a stack of 2x180 seconds images, with R Bessel filter, the object has a position end figures 36s.12, 11".3, and magnitude 20.5 in a 1.5" radius aperture. There is no trace of the apparent supernova in the DSS images of 1996 09 03 and 1992 05 31, but there is a faint galaxy knot around 2" S from it.
