Independent discovery by Andrew Pearce, Nedlands, Western Australia using Canon 800D camera and 85mm f/1.2 lens. Visible on 3 images. Position RA 17 59 04.45 Dec -36 01 07.9. Jan 29.846 UT magnitude 10.6 (unfiltered).




2025 01 26.842

Closer inspection of recent patrol images confirm the transient was present on the earlier images, albeit fainter with a brightness increase above detection threshold in last 24 hours. Unfiltered magnitude estimates: Jan 26.842 UT 11.1, Jan 27.847 UT, 11.0, Jan 28.842 UT 11.1. Last negative observation was 2024 Oct 31.493 UT where it was fainter than magnitude 12.5.
