CYGNUS X-3
Dr. K. Osawa, Director of the Tokyo Astronomical Observatory,
reports that observers at the Kashima Branch of the Radio Research
Laboratories detected a flare-up of Cyg X-3 on Dec. 19d02h UT. On
Dec. 19d03h the flux density of the source at 4.21 GHz was 4.7 +/-
0.2 Jy.
PERIODIC COMET WIRTANEN (1974i)
Dr. Elizabeth Roemer, University of Arizona, reports the
recovery of this comet on a single 90-min exposure with the Steward
Observatory's 229-cm reflector on Kitt Peak. The comet's image was
fairly well condensed. L. M. Vaughn assisted. The indicated
correction to the prediction on IAUC 2697 is Delta-T = -0.07 day.

COMET BENNETT (1974h)
Several negative observations have been reported of this
comet, among them the following: D. Herald, Canberra, made an
unsuccessful visual search with a 31-cm reflector during the total
lunar eclipse on Nov. 29 and concluded that m1 must have been
fainter than 12; V. M. Blanco, Cerro Tololo Interamerican Observatory,
informs us that the comet could not be detected on exposures
of up to 30 min with the Curtis Schmidt telescope on Dec. 5; E.
Roemer, Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, failed to record the comet
on a 20-min exposure with the 154-cm reflector on Dec. 16 and
concluded that, if stellar, the comet was fainter than m2 = 18.
COMET VAN DEN BERGH (1974g)
Dr. Roemer provides the following precise positions, obtained
with the 154-cm reflector. Measurer: Carolyn C. McCarthy.
