Cable Address: SATELLITES, NEWYORK Western Union: RAPID SATELLITE CAMBMASS beta PERSEI D. Gibson, National Radio Astronomy Observatory, reports a large radio outburst of beta Per (Algol). During a 4-hr interval ending on Jan. 16.0 UT the flux density increased from 0.4 to 1.0 Jy at 8085 MHz and from 0.1 to 0.25 Jy at 2695 MHz. SU TAURI Mrs. Janet Mattei, Director of the American Association of Variable Star Observers, reports that E. Mayer (Barberton, Ohio) estimated this star at visual magnitude 12.5 on Jan. 15.07 UT. Observations by AAVSO members, as well as at the Wilhelm Foerster Observatory, Berlin, indicate that the star was around magnitude 11-12 at the beginning of December.
