SUPERNOVA IN NGC 7723
     P. Wild, Astronomical Institute, Berne, reports that he has
discovered a supernova 33" west and 26" north of the nucleus of NGC
7723. On Oct. 24 the photovisual magnitude was 15.0; on Oct. 28
the object had brightened to magnitude 14.

COMET SUZUKI-SAIGUSA-MORI (1975k)
Further selected total visual magnitude estimates: Oct. 12.19
UT, 8 (J. Muirden, Exeter, England, 12 x 40 binoculars); 16.19, 7.5
(Muirden); 21.07, 7.5 (K. G. Andersson, Stockholm, Sweden, 12 x 80
binoculars); 23.39, 6.8 (J. Bortle, Brooks Observatory, 10 x 50
binoculars); 28.41, 5.5 (Bortle). Mr. Bortle remarks that on the last
date the coma diameter was 12'. Using 20 x 120 binoculars he
observed a tail ~ 1o long in p.a. 320o; there was an elongated cloud
just north of the tail (elongated in p.a. 150o-330o), and the
entire coma was surrounded by a diffuse circular halo 0o.5 in radius.

     V. Guth, Ondrejov Observatory; and I. Hasegawa, Nara, Japan,
have independently suggested the possibility of observing meteors
associated with the comet on Oct. 30.5 UT from the radiant R.A. = 158o
= 10h32m, Decl. = +47o; V_inf = 62 km/s, r_c - r_e = -0.103 AU. The comet
will pass through its descending node on Oct. 31.4 UT.

NOVA CYGNI 1975
     R. Kirshner, Kitt Peak National Observatory, communicates the
following photoelectric magnitudes measured by P. Kuan: Oct. 12.25
UT, V = 8.64 +/- 0.02, B-V = -0.26, U-B = -0.48; 13.20, 8.62, -0.28,
-0.50; 14.13, 8.73, -0.26, -0.45; 15.15, 8.70, -0.28, -0.49.

Corrigendum. On IAUC 2857, line 25, the headings to the columns
H and J should be interchanged.

NOVA SCUTI 1975
Further selected visual magnitude estimates: Sept. 20.87 UT,
11.0 (G. M. Hurst, Northampton, England); 23.05, 11.2 (C. Sherrod,
North Little Rock, Arkansas); 30.1, 11.3 (J. Bortle, Brooks
Observatory); Oct. 3.81, 10.9 (Hurst); 6.09, 11.3 (Sherrod); 7.00, 11.6
(Bortle); 10.04, 11.4 (Sherrod); 13.05, 11.5 (Sherrod); 22.05, 12.0
(Bortle); 25.0, 12.1 (Bortle); 29.0, 12.1 (Bortle).
