PERIODIC COMET HONDA-MRKOS-PAJDUSAKOVA (1974 XVI)
     C. Torres, Department of Astronomy, University of Chile, provides
the following precise positions, obtained at Cerro El Roble:

     1975 UT R. A. (1950) Decl.
     Jan. 13.05935 21 21 15.20 -33 17 44.1

3U 1727-33
     N. E. White, K. O. Mason and P. W. Sanford, Mullard Space
Science Laboratory; and C. Chevalier and S. A. Ilovaisky, Observatoire
de Meudon, write: "Observations at 2.5-7.5 keV in June 1973
reveal a 7m.84 +/- 0m.04 periodic modulation of peak to mean amplitude
23 percent of the mean flux. Because of our finite sampling frequency
(1m.45) the data would also be consistent with a modulation
period of 1m.77 and amplitude 46 percent. We note near the 3U error
box the presence of the ninth-magnitude highly-reddened emission-line
A-type supergiant CoD -33 12119 = AS 231 (cf. IAUC 2569)."

1976 March 3 (2920) Brian G. Marsden
