A1707-27
     J. P. Pye, M. Elvis and G. R. Eadie, Physics Department, Leicester
University, report that observations of the galactic center
region with the Ariel 5 Sky Survey instrument during Aug. 27-Sept.
1 show a previously unobserved, relatively faint, x-ray source.
The 90-percent-confidence error box for the source location is
centered on l = 357o.0, b = +7o.4; has corners at 354o.6, +7o.8; 354o.6,
+7o.0; 359o.4, +7o.0; 359o.4, +7o.8; and area 0.4 square degrees.
Assuming the x-ray source to be at the center of the error box, the
intensity is about 10**-9 erg cm**-2 s**-1 (at 2-10 keV). The box
includes the high core density globular cluster NGC 6293.

FG SAGITTAE
     J. D. Fernie, David Dunlap Observatory, writes that the time
rate of change of the B-V color index of this unique and astonishing
supergiant has recently slowed drastically. For ten years the
color index increased by over one magnitude at a linear rate in the
early 1970s of 0.16 magnitude yr**-1 (Fernie 1975, Astrophys. J. 200,
392). During the past year, however, the increase has been only
0.03 magnitude, to a value of B-V = +1.53 at 1976.5. The V magnitude
has remained roughly constant at 8.9-9.0 throughout, and the
other color indices have shown small increases. It would be of
interest if spectroscopic observations could be made of the star
during this change in activity and before the current season ends.
