PERIODIC COMET KOJIMA (1977r)
     K. Hurukawa and Y. Kozai, Tokyo Astronomical Observatory, report
that H. Kosai and Hurukawa (assisted by H. Kinoshita) have recovered
this comet on exposures with the 105-cm Schmidt telescope
at the Kiso Station. The comet was diffuse, without condensation,
and evidently fainter than m1 = 18.5 on Nov. 9-10. Kosai's measurements
follow. C. T. Kowal, Hale Observatories, was subsequently able
to identify somewhat diffuse images of the comet on exposures with
the Palomar Schmidt; haze interfered on the second night. The indicated
correction to the prediction on IAUC 3093 is Delta-T = -0.18 day.

1977 UB
     W. Liller and L. J. Chaisson, Center for Astrophysics, have
tentatively identified an extremely weak image on a 60-min exposure
made with the 61-cm Bruce astrograph in 1895. An accurate position
from this plate and improved positions for two of the observations
mentioned on IAUC 3147 are:

     1895/76 UT R.A. (1950) Decl. Location
1895 Apr. 24.1475 12 12 13.67 - 4 29 44.5 Cambridge, Mass.
1941 Jan. 23.8627 7 54 52.45 +13 02 13.7 Bloemfontein
1976 Nov. 17.09557 1 44 24.25 +10 42 02.6 Harvard, Mass.

The following orbital elements, by B. G. Marsden, satisfy the
1895, 1941, 1952, 1969, 1976 and 1977 observations within 2" (the
1943 observation, known to be inferior, leaves a residual of 6").
Perturbations by the five outer planet were taken into account.
