NOVALIKE OBJECT IN SERPENS
     Y. Kozai, Tokyo Astronomical Observatory, cables that M. Honda,
Kurashiki, has discovered a novalike object as follows:

     1978 UT          R. A. (1950) Decl.     mpg
     Mar.  1         17 49.0     -14 45       9

An observation by H. Kosai at the Kiso Station on Mar. 8 [sic;
should be March 5?] showed the object at magnitude 8.

COMET TRITTON (1978d)
     The following precise positions have been reported:

     1978 UT             R. A. (1950) Decl.        Observer
     Feb. 11.65764    10 46 41.37   - 0 44 06.4    Tritton

K. Tritton (U.K. Schmidt Telescope Unit, Coonabarabran). 122-cm
   Schmidt telescope. Error +/- 2" in each coordinate.
C.-Y. Shao (Harvard College Observatory, Agassiz Station). 155-cm
   reflector.

     M. P. Candy, Perth Observatory, provides the following elliptical
elements, derived from Tritton's three positions:

       T = 1977 Oct. 30.073 ET
   Peri. = 146.69                     e =   0.6229
