SATELLITES OF SATURN
Further to IAUC 3593, B. A. Smith, Lunar and Planetary Laboratory,
reports that further analysis suggests that both 1981 S 1 and
1981 S 2 are associated with the triangular libration points of
Saturn III (Tethys), the former with L4, the latter with L5. He
finds that 1980 S 13 = 1980 S 24 (probably) = 1980 S 29 = 1980 S 30
= an observation made from Voyager 1 on 1980 Nov. 7 = 1981 S 1 and
that 1980 S 25 = 1981 S 2. The L4 object appears to have a libration
amplitude of < 2o about the 60o point, and Smith provides the
following additional observations (differential coordinates with respect
to the center of Saturn) by S. M. Larson and J. W. Fountain
with the 1.5-m reflector: 1981 May 2.1835 UT, dR.A. = -46", dDecl.
= -3"; May 3.1842 UT dR.A. = +45", dDecl. = +3".

The suggestion, from the 1980 ground-based observations alone,
that objects were connected with both the L4 and L5 libration points
of Tethys was first made by Seidelmann et al. (Icarus, in press).

     E. Bowell, Lowell Observatory, provides the following precise
positions of Saturn VIII (Iapetus) and Saturn IX (Phoebe), measured
from plates taken with the 0.33-m photographic telescope:
