SUPERNOVA IN NGC 1265
     K. Birkle, T. Neckel and M. Sarcander, Max-Planck-Institut
fur Astronomie, Heidelberg, and Centro Astronomico Hispano-Aleman,
Calar Alto, report their discovery of a supernova 2" east of the
center of NGC 1265 (R.A. = 3h14m9, Decl. = +41deg41', equinox 1950.0) on
Jan. 29 with the 2.2-m telescope at a wavelength of 1 micron. The
visual magnitude was estimated as 13 on Jan. 30.85 UT.

SUPERNOVA IN ESO 323-G25
     L. E. Gonzalez and J. Maza, Department of Astronomy, University
of Chile, have confirmed the supernova in ESO 323-G25 (IAUC
3764). On Jan. 25.2 UT the photographic magnitude was ~ 18.5.

V1343 AQUILAE
     M. Verdenet, Bourbon-Lancy, France, confirms with his visual
magnitude estimates the very low minimum reported on IAUC 3750:
1982 Sept. 18.83 UT, 14.9; 20.83, 15.5; 22.82, 15.6; 25.83, 15.3.

VARIABLE STAR IN ORION
     H. Kosai, Tokyo Astronomical Observatory, communicates the
following additional observations (cf. IAUC 3763) by M. Huruhata
on Jan. 21.61 UT: V = 14.3, B = 14.2.

Contributors are advised that the preferred method for
communicating urgent information to the Central Bureau is by telex to
the above number. Since its inception in 1978 this system has
been extremely reliable, and service is available 24 hours a day.
If a 'public message' telegram or cablegram is being sent, the
address should consist of the above number and answerback (and
CAMBRIDGE MASS USA for a cablegram), supplemented by the words
'CENTRAL BUREAU FOR ASTRON CAMBRIDGE MASS' if desired. Messages
should not be sent to the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory's
answerback SATELLITE CAM. Telephone communication is generally
not recommended, as staff is frequently unavailable to respond.
Less urgent information (including all enquiries relating to
subscriptions to these Circulars) should be sent by mail.

1983 January 31 (3769) Brian G. Marsden
