SUPERNOVA 1986O IN NGC 2227
     C. Pennypacker, S. Burns, F. Crawford, P. Friedman, J. Kare,
J. Graham, R. Muller, C. Okada, C. Paine, S. Perlmutter, C. Smith,
R. Treffers, and R. Williams, Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, University
of California, report the discovery at Leuschner Observatory
on 1986 Dec. 24 of a magnitude 14 supernova located 25" due south
of the nucleus of NGC 2227 (R.A. = 6h23m48s, Decl. = -21 57.0, equinox
1950.0). Observations on 1987 Jan. 14 and 15 confirmed a stellar
object at the above position.

NOVA CENTAURI 1986
     P. A. Whitelock, South African Astronomical Observatory, informs
us that infrared measures indicate that the nova has formed a
dust shell. Her L magnitudes are: 1986 Dec. 30.1 UT, 3.87; 31.1,
3.84; 1987 Jan. 1.1, 3.74; 3.0, 3.37; 5.0, 2.74. The J magnitude
was approximately constant at 4.92-5.00.
Further visual magnitude estimates (cf. IAUC 4290): 1986 Dec.
30.75 UT, 6.8 (R. McNaught, Coonabarabran, N.S.W.); 31.95, 7.0 (J.
Campos, Durban, R.S.A.); 1987 Jan. 3.66, 6.9 (McNaught); 4.73, 6.8
(McNaught); 8.5, 6.9 (McNaught); 9.6, 7.0 (McNaught); 10.62, 7.3
(McNaught); 12.06, 8.4 (Campos); 13.74, 9.2 (McNaught).

NOVA ANDROMEDAE 1986
Further visual magnitude estimates, reported in part by J. A.
Mattei, AAVSO: 1986 Dec. 16.89 UT, 8.4 (G. M. Hurst, Basingstoke,
England); 20.81, 8.6 (Hurst); 22.38, 8.2 (Y. Sugiyama, Hiratsuka,
Japan); 24.42, 8.5 (Sugiyama); 26.73, 9.0 (Hurst); 30.81, 8.3 (K.
Medway, Southampton, England); 1987 Jan. 3.76, 9.7 (Hurst); 4.14,
10.5 (R. King, Duluth, MN); 4.80, 10.7 (A. Pereira, Linda-A-Velha,
Portugal); 7.00, 10.8 (C. Stephan, Sebring, FL); 8.12, 11.3 (C.
Scovil, Stamford, CT); 11.79, 11.3 (Hurst); 12.02, 11.7 (P. Sventek,
Houston, TX).

COMET WILSON (1986l)
Further total visual magnitude estimates: 1986 Dec. 20.08 UT,
10.6 (A. Hale, Las Cruces, NM, 0.20-m reflector); 22.11, 9.7 (C. S.
Morris, Whitaker Peak, CA, 0.26-m reflector); 22.73, 9.9 (M. V.
Zanotta, Milan, Italy, 0.25-m reflector); 27.07, 10.2 (Hale).
