COMET WISEMAN-SKIFF (1987b)
Jennifer Wiseman has discovered a comet on two photographic
plates taken by Brian Skiff at the Lowell Observatory's Anderson
Mesa Station on 1986 Dec. 28, with confirming plates obtained by
Skiff and Wiseman on 1987 Jan. 19. The comet is diffuse with
strong condensation. The positions were measured by Skiff:

NOVA CENTAURI 1986
     L. H. Barrera, G. Le-Cerf and N. Vogt, Pontificia Universidad
Catolica de Chile, Santiago, report that they obtained four
spectrograms (baked IIa-O plates, range 410-510 nm, dispersion 2 nm/mm)
between 1986 Dec. 26 and 1987 Jan. 4 using the 1-m telescope at the
Manuel Foster Observatory, Cerro San Cristobal. The spectra are
dominated by very broad emission of H-beta, H-gamma and several Fe II lines.
The strongest lines (H-beta; Fe II at 492 and 502 nm) also show two
blueshifted absorption components with relative displacements of about
-1200 and -2600 km/s, respectively (Jan. 3.319 UT).

NOVA IN SMALL MAGELLANIC CLOUD
