PERIODIC COMET HALLEY (1982i)
     M. Kidger and F. Garzon, Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias,
La Laguna, Tenerife, report: "Spectral observations of P/Halley on
1986 Dec. 16-17 with the 2.5-m Isaac Newton Telescope (+ image
proportional counting system, range 370-740 nm) did not reveal CN or
C3 emission. These results are in contradiction to observations
reported by Wyckoff and Tegler (IAUC 4284). This may indicate that
gaseous emission from the nucleus is only sporadically active at
the comet's present heliocentric distance."
     Further visual magnitude estimate: Jan. 26.40 UT, 12.4 (C. S.
Morris, Pyramid Lake, CA, 0.26-m reflector).

COMET NISHIKAWA-TAKAMIZAWA-TAGO (1987c)
     Further total visual magnitude estimates: Jan. 24.04 UT, 9.3
(J. DeYoung, Sterling, VA, 0.25-m reflector); 24.99, 9.0 (DeYoung);
25.40, 7.8 (Y. Sugiyama, Hiratsaka, Japan, 0.16-m reflector);
26.42, 8.1 (Sugiyama); 27.00, 8.9 (DeYoung).
