AS 296
     R. H. McNaught, Siding Spring Observatory, reports that this
star appears in outburst on Atlas Stellarum, 1968 July 27, at magnitude
B = 12.9. Examination of Schmidt survey films from 1984-86
gives evidence of only slight variability around minimum. Patrol
photographs by McNaught in 1986-87 yield a minimum magnitude of V
qbout 11.8. Estimates from recent patrol photographs are 1988 May
21.59 UT, 11.5:; June 12.67, 10.4; 13.70, 10.4; 23.76, 10.0; 24.72,
10.0; July 11.59, 10.0. Visual magnitude estimates: July 10.02 UT,
10.1 (P. Schmeer, Bischmisheim, W. Germany); 11.00, 10.0 (Schmeer);
12.5, 10.0 (P. Williams, Heathcote, N.S.W.); 13.5, 10.0 (A. Pearce,
Woodlands, W. Australia).

PERIODIC COMET TEMPEL 2 (1987g)
Total visual magnitude estimates: July 4.12 UT, 13.4 (J. E.
Bortle, Stormville, NY, 0.51-m reflector); 11.23, 13.4 (A. Hale,
Las Cruces, NM, 0.41-m reflector); 12.25, 12.5 (C. S. Morris,
Whitaker Peak, CA, 0.26-m reflector); 15.25, 10.7 (Morris, 20x80 binoculars).

NOVA ANDROMEDAE 1988
     R. E. Royer reports the following approximate photovisual
magnitudes obtained with the 0.46-m telescope at Ford Observatory,
Wrightwood, CA: June 21.46, 17; July 13.46, 17.5-18.0.

COMET LILLER (1988a)
     Total visual magnitude estimates: June 15.21 UT, 7.4 (D. W. E.
Green, near Fillmore, UT, 7x50 binoculars); 18.93, 8.0 (S. Korth, Violau,
W. Germany, 20x80 binoculars); 22.28, 8.3 (A. Hale, Las Cruces, NM,
