V346 NORMAE
     S. Molinari, R. Liseau and D. Lorenzetti, Istituto di Fisica dello
Spazio Interplanetario, Frascati; and J. Graham, Carnegie Institution,
Washington, report: "We systematically observed this FU-Ori object
(the exciting source for HH 57; cf. IAUC 3785, 3792, 3823) in the near-
infrared during 1989-1992 with the European Southern Observatory's 1-m
telescope. From the literature, it appears that the object is
steadily brightening, especially in the L and M bands, where it has
undergone an increase of more than 1.5 mag, along with a smaller fading
in J.  The last observation at ESO in Sept. 1992 gave J = 10.71 +/- 0.03,
H = 8.84 +/- 0.01, K = 7.15 +/- 0.01, L (3.8 microns) = 4.73 +/- 0.02,
M (4.6 microns) = 3.96 +/- 0.05.  A spectrum of the star taken with the
Las Campanas 2.5-m telescope in June 1992 showed no significant changes
from previous years, and we tentatively interpret the infrared brightening
to evolution of the circumstellar dust. Further observations (especially
spectroscopic) are strongly encouraged during the present season."
