U SCORPII
     A. Niedzielski, Center for Astronomy, Torun University; and T.
Tomov and U. Munari, Padova and Asiago Astronomical Observatories,
write: "We obtained spectra (range 435-495 nm; 0.1 nm/pixel) of U
Sco (cf. IAUC 7113) around Feb. 26.14 UT with the Asiago 1.22-m
telescope + Boller & Chivens CCD spectrograph). The spectrum of U
Sco appears completely dominated by wide emission blends in which
identification is made uncertain by the extreme broadness of the
features (FWZI about 8600-11 000 km/s). Probably present are N
III, C III, C IV, and hydrogen emission lines. The presence of He
I and He II lines is suspected, too. Monitoring continues."

GK PERSEI
This 1901 nova has been having a small outburst, the last
having been in 1996 (IAUC 6325). Visual magnitude estimates: Feb.

(Schmeer); 14.87, 13.0 (Schmeer); 16.869, 13.0 (Schmeer); 24.796,
