NSV 6708
     W. A. Lawson, P. M. Kilmartin, A. C. Gilmore, and M. Clark,
Mount John Observatory, report a rapid decrease in the brightness
of the suspected R CrB star NSV 6708 (cf. IAUC 4233, 4560, etc.).
Preliminary photometry:  Aug. 23.49 UT, V = 7.13, B-V = +0.48; Aug.
27.36, 7.17, +0.49; Sept. 2.40, 7.46, +0.50; Sept. 5.45, 7.81, +0.53.

3C 446 AND 3C 279
     M. Kidger, Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias, La Lugana;
and P. Allan, University of Manchester, telex: ''Examination
of CCD images of 3C 446 taken with the 1-m Jacobus Kapteyn
reflector (+ coated GEC chip) on Roque de Los Muchachos, La Palma,
in late July reveals that the light curve was then stable before
rising to the maximum reported by Perez (IAUC 4650): July 22.2 UT,
R = 16.32, B = 17.40; 23.2, 16.36, 17.27; 25.2, R = 16.37, V = 16.80,
B = 17.27. UBVRI photometry of 3C 279 appears to confirm the flare
observed by Webb (IAUC 4632):  July 21.8, R = 12.90, V = 13.32, B =
13.80; July 22.8, I = 12.25, R = 12.84, V = 13.32, B = 13.84, U =
13.12; July 23.8, R = 12.30, V = 13.09, B = 13.53.  These magnitudes
are in the Johnson/Kron-Cousins system."

VY AQUARII
     Photoelectric photometry by R. Monella, Covo, Italy: Sept.
2.839 UT, V = 10.68, B-V = +0.35, U-B = -0.43; 3.876, 10.87, +0.46,
-0.29; 4.869, 10.93, +0.26, -0.41; 5.835, 11.12, +0.19, -0.35; 5.913,
11.21, +0.16, -0.36.
     Corrigendum.  On IAUC 4649, line 2,  for  Aug. 30.5 UT, [15 (A.
Pearce, Woodlands, W. Australia)  read  Aug. 30.38 UT, [15 (R. H.
McNaught, Siding Spring Observatory). The other observations attributed
to Pearce are correct.
